Challenge Grant Unlocked!

Also: Bell Guard Profiles, our cameo in a documentary, and more.

Thanks to all our donors who pitched in to raise $25,000 for a second Honor Bell! “The fact that we’ve been able to raise $25,000 in just six months speaks to the dedication of people across Colorado to our mission — especially in these challenging times,” said Foundation Director Michelle Mallin.

Importantly, generating that level of grassroots support allows us to unlock a challenge grant from the Daniels Fund, bringing our total raised so far to $50,000.

From individuals donating on our website to organizations supporting our vision to those who contributed during the 40 Hands in 40 Days initiative, people are showing how important it is to help bring both honors to deceased veterans and to provide a way for veterans to give back to their community. Read more about what this means for our efforts to bring our mission to more veterans here.

An update on COVID-19's Impact

Over the past few weeks, like everyone else, the Honor Bell Foundation has been impacted by the spread of COVID-19, in large and small ways. Most notably, Fort Logan National Cemetery is currently not conducting funeral services — services where the Honor Bell tolls and other veteran service organizations perform their honors.

Even through this crisis, our mission will continue. In the short term, it may look a little different. We are exploring new ways to pay tribute to our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. But in the long term, we remain committed to honoring our nation’s service men and women by tolling the Honor Bell — to be joined by a planned second Honor Bell in Colorado Springs — in recognition of their service and sacrifice. We hope you will continue to support us in this journey as we move forward.

Bells, everywhere, from Ohio to France:

We made a quick cameo in this Great Big Story episode about a French family of bell-makers. It's a lovely piece, and a nice dive into the tale of these craftsmen.
